Nurturevia Path · Everyday family support
A step-by-step Path for getting ready, stopping, leaving, and moving from one activity to the next.
This Path cannot explain why transitions are difficult or identify a developmental or mental-health condition.
Step 1
Step 2 · A short explanation
A transition asks a child to stop, shift attention, understand what comes next, and sometimes leave something enjoyable. The same child may find one change easy and another hard. Start by making the next step visible and keeping the first practice small.
Use the same brief words each time.
Choose two realistic, safe steps.
Practise once before the difficult time.
Step 3 · See one example
This is one example. Change it to fit your family.
1 of 4
The child is doing something familiar.
Step 4 · Away from the screen
Use the same short words and visual cue. Help, pause or stop when needed.
Do not redesign the whole day.
Point to First–Then or move through the countdown.
The goal is a clearer cue, not forced compliance.
